A real heavyweight in its class,
This is an amazing ridged griddle and works very well for meat steaks – giving that barbecued stripy look and taste. Not sure how well it will work for other foods.It is USA in origin. It is solid cast iron. Consequently, it is VERY heavy and needs two hands to move it/lift it. I feel that it works best on a wok burner – any smaller burner might not heat it sufficiently. It comes ready seasoned for use. No detergent should be used on it – just hot water, and after use you will need a good stiff brush to clean out the rather deep ridges. It certainly needs very little cooking oil – a spray is all that is needed.

A simply wonderful product from “Lodge”. So easy to cook with – produces excellent results and no sticking.It’s heavy but stays put on the stove.Good value for money. Certainly a match for “le Creuset”. You only need a gentle heat as the pan retains its cooking properties a distinct advantage for cast iron. It should last for ever and a day with proper care. An oven glove or handle protector are useful additions both available from “Le creuset”. Tonight’s steak Perfect…..

It cooks things so much better than non cast iron stuff and no nasty flaking that you get with ‘non’ stick. The only thing you have to remember is to let it cool down before cleaning, don’t use washing up liquid, even the worst stuck on stuff comes off with a good scrubbing brush. I also have the Lodge Round Skillet, which cooks perfect cornbread etc and am probably going to buy more Lodge ware soon.
